Through an NDIA Working Group of digital inclusion practitioners revising their work to be socially distant and/or remote, NDIA has created a baseline job description for a Digital Navigator.

In the great tradition of “surfing the internet as we build the internet”, here’s a sample basic Digital Navigators job description. Borrow and customize as needed.

Our Digital Navigators model can be adapted to the capacity you have available, be it newly dedicated full-time employees, cross-trained staff, or volunteers. Several NDIA affiliates have started with a helpline.

Inspired by social workers, the Digital Navigator model includes identifying what a community member wants to accomplish online, and guiding them through getting a home internet subscription, finding adequate devices, and building digital skills.
