MBI seeks a highly motivated individual to join our team as the Manager for Equity, Outreach, and Engagement. This position will play a critical role helping to guide MBI’s digital equity strategy; promoting the digital equity programs funded by ARPA and other federal programs; supporting regional digital equity champions in engaging and expanding their network of partners; collaborating with a range of key stakeholders; and coordinating advocacy, grassroots, and other outreach efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

Establish and maintain partnerships with diverse, mission-aligned organizations, developing state-wide and regional alliances and consortia around digital access, equity, inclusion and advancement.

Support the development and operation of MBI’s broadband access and digital equity programs funded by ARPA and other federal programs, including development of program tracking, contracting, and other needed internal documentation.

Provide leadership for digital equity planning, strategy formation, coalition work, grassroots support, and policy advocacy.

Plan and implement stakeholder outreach and engagement activities, which may include public meetings, webinars, forums, and other methods to communicate and engage with stakeholders.

Develop presentations, website content and other materials related to MBI’s digital equity programs for a wide range of audiences.

Develop a master database to track data and outcomes of digital inclusion projects and activities.

Develop and maintain relationships with public and private sector stakeholders, including nonprofits (such as community based organizations), to identify how policies and programs can be developed and improved to support digital inclusion work.

Manage contracts and grant agreements related to stakeholder outreach and engagement activities.

Support the development of federal grant plans and applications related to digital equity initiatives.

Serve as a key point of contact and represent MBI and its Digital Equity programs and initiatives in public settings, including meetings and events.

Work collaboratively with internal communications staff, consultants and partners to produce accessible communications and civic engagement materials. Support coordinated messaging and management of MBI’s website, listserv, etc.

Requirements

NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for the required qualifications.

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a supervisor or manager in government, advocacy, or nonprofit organizations with experience managing coalition efforts and advising on policy issues.

Active knowledge and experience of Massachusetts communities and ongoing issues related to digital access and equity.

Experience managing or leading projects and programs related to equity and/or community issues.

Experience developing and managing partnerships

Experience managing contracts and grant agreements.

Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to work collaboratively.

Excellent communication (written and oral) and public speaking skills.

Self-motivated, creative thinker with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Ability to meet deadlines, problem-solve and balance short-term and long-term tasks and goals.

Proficiency with business tools (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent), social media, website management tools, and online networking tools a plus.

Preference for field experience with digital inclusion programs or activities

Beneficial if the candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in public policy, information science, communications, urban planning, or related field.
