New York Digital Inclusion Fund

NDIA launched the New York Digital Inclusion Fund (NYDIF) Coalition Planning and Innovation Grants in 2021 to increase the number of digital inclusion partnerships working to address digital inclusion barriers throughout New York State. The NYDIF Program concluded in December 2024 through the hard work, innovation, and resilience of our partners.

About the New York Digital Inclusion Fund

The New York Digital Inclusion Fund launched with an exciting new grant opportunity for New York-based digital inclusion work in 2021. NYDIF supported innovative partnership models that accelerated digital inclusion and coalition work on digital equity across New York state.

NDIA was proud to have partnered with Schmidt Futures on the launch of the New York Digital Inclusion Fund and provided guidance and technical expertise to grantees as they carried out digital inclusion activities to advance digital equity in their communities and regions.

The Fund offered opportunities in two categories: Digital Inclusion Coalition Planning Grants and Digital Inclusion Innovation Grants. The first supported regional digital inclusion coalition building, and the second supported innovative partnerships to increase the number of people connected to broadband, equipped with devices, and access to digital literacy resources and technical support across communities throughout New York state. NDIA supported grantees and provided training, resources, lessons learned, best practices, and guidance as they carried out their digital inclusion work.

The Fund was managed by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance and powered by Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic initiative founded by Eric and Wendy Schmidt.

“The New York Digital Inclusion Fund is designed to make an impact on whole communities and regions by supporting collaborative digital inclusion programs. We are proud to partner with Schmidt Futures and intend this work to serve as a model for others investing in digital equity.”
