Championing Digital Equity: Angela Siefer’s Call to Action at Net Inclusion 2025

Last week, the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) gathered with community members to host Net Inclusion 2025—a digital inclusion conference bringing hundreds of practitioners, advocates, academics, internet service providers, and policymakers together to gain digital equity insights, ignite change, and amplify their impact in the digital inclusion movement. On day two of the conference, NDIA Executive Director Angela Siefer delivered a powerful speech that resonated deeply with attendees, leaving them feeling inspired and motivated to take action. As the premier digital inclusion conference in the country, Net Inclusion serves as a vital platform for stakeholders in the digital equity space, and this year’s gathering was no exception.

Angela’s address was more than just a speech; it was a rallying cry for community leaders, policymakers, and advocates to unite to save the Digital Equity Act (DEA). With a passionate voice, she emphasized the urgent need for collective action to continue advancing digital equity.

Drawing on stories from various communities, Angela illustrated the transformative impact of digital inclusion. She shared personal stories from community members who have empowered individuals and families, showcasing the on-the-ground efforts crucial to building a more equitable digital future. Her anecdotes served as both inspiration and a call to action, reminding the audience of the real lives affected by the work they do.

In closing, Angela left the audience with a powerful message: This is not over. Despite the efforts from the administration to stall and thwart funding for digital equity, communities across this country continue to do the work that will lead us into a more digitally inclusive future. Every effort counts, every voice matters, and together, we can create a future where technology serves as a bridge rather than a barrier. Her passionate appeal reignited a sense of purpose among attendees, setting the tone for the remainder of Net Inclusion.

As we move forward, it is clear that the work ahead is significant, but with leaders like Angela Siefer steering the conversation, the path toward digital equity seems not only necessary but achievable. The energy and emotions were high following her address—a testament to the collective commitment to making digital inclusion a reality for all. The work continues, and with newfound motivation, Net Inclusion attendees left more determined than ever to effect meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
